C-2セーターは、1940年代前半にアメリカ陸軍航空隊が採用したフロントジップのセーターです。
戦闘機パイロットがA-2フライトジャケットなどのインナーとして重ね着して保温性を高めることを目的として導入されました。
セーターであるにも関わらず、当時「ベスト」として分類され、スペックシートには「ウールニット製の袖付き」と記されていました。
本製品は、そのC-2セーターの復刻モデルです。
ウール製ニットの保温性と簡単に着脱できるフロントジッパーの利便性を併せ持つ多用途性で、Tシャツや他のトップスの上に羽織るカーディガンのようなアウターとしても、、ジャケット等のインナーとしてのレイヤードアイテムとしても重宝されるセーターです。
C-2はフライトジャケットA-2のインナーとして着用することを前提としていたため、そのシルエットはスリムフィットに設定されています。
素材はウール100%のミドルゲージニットです。
ゴツゴツとした風合いとネップ感が残るミリタリーらしい無骨な表情ながら、しなやかな着心地も併せ持つニットです。
ウールらしいやや起毛した素朴な素材感は冬場には保温性を確保しつつ見た目にも温かみのある表情を演出してくれます。
厚すぎず、薄すぎない、中厚程度の厚さで、Tシャツの上に一枚で着たり、冬のジャケットやコートのインナーとしても着用できたりと、幅広く、長い期間使い回せるアイテムになっています。
着用すればするするほど毛糸が起毛していき、フエルト状になり風を防ぐ効果も高くなり、保温性を増していきます。
フロントはフルジップアップ仕様で、ジッパーにはCONMATIC(コンマティック)ファスナーが使用されています。
ジップテープにはしっかりとしたコットンツイル生地が使用されています。
袖はラグランスリーブです。
肩に縫い目が入る「セットインスリーブ」に対して、襟ぐりから袖下に斜めに縫い目が入った袖で、腕を動かしやすいとされています。
衿・袖口・裾はリブで切り替えられています。
襟のリブは折り返しのないベースボールタイプの衿です。
フロントの左身頃下部には上に口が開いたパッチポケットが設けられています。
